Unfortunately for some, I will be posting more often about ADHD. I will openly discuss the subject and share what I have learned. Recently, at a party, I had a conversation with a mother whose daughter has ADHD. Initially, she was thought to be unintelligent until she was diagnosed and several measures were taken, such as attending a school with fewer students and taking medication. During the conversation, this mother made an intriguing comment: She said that she had asked her daughter not to take the medicine. This prompted my question: "May I ask why, since it was prescribed by a professional?" Her answer: "I've heard it can cause Alzheimer's." When I asked her where she heard that, she said it was from someone she follows on Instagram. Another person in the conversation emphasized the importance of using reliable sources and peer-reviewed research. I'm not sure if my endorsed comment will have an impact. Hopefully, it will. I'm not surprised by how people form their opinions on scientific topics, but I'm scared by how easy it is today to spread misinformation and disinformation on important topics. #ADHD #Science #CriticalThinking #BigTech #SocialMedia #Instagram #Disinformation
