It's very similar to the fossil fuel playbook.
Convince governments to create gas taxes on sales in the delusional belief that punishing the end consumer for going to work is a strategy for climate action.
Instead it made governments allies with the fossil fuel industry to keep gas prices high, kneecap cleanup, & bolster fossil fuel subsidies.
Punishing the end user of social media isn't a substitute for regulation, standards, & oversight.

@Npars01 @leftylabourtech @danneau @pluralistic I get the sense that Big Tech is allied with Oil - why else do they keep building data centres that consume massive amounts of electrical power in areas that lack the grids to support it? Even as cleaner energy sources replace fossil generation, the oil industry is experiencing growth from from grid expansion.
