Exactly my point.
The Catholic Church for once just keeping more or less with their doctrine and not being overly a hypocrite, is nowadays so refreshing that it makes them surprising acceptable even to people that didn't agree on policies as such.
The Catholic Church is far from being progressive. The point is that "American progressive" is by international standards pretty conservative. A match in heaven, pun intended.

@yacc143 @rejzor @EthicalProfessor Unfortunately, there are so many ultra conservative denominations that don't see the hypocrisy of their actions/pronouncements versus the faith that they claim to follow. Evangelicals, Baptists, Mormons, etc. need to "see the light", but I doubt they ever will.
