Looking for advice on what's wrong with this rose plant! (I'm in the UK) It has patches of red leaves alongside white spots / variagation on the green leaves. I've been away for a week and it looks worse with a small branch withering. In other years it's had green leaves and been healthy, although last year it did have some black spot which I pruned back. I'm thinking it could be mosiac virus, in which case I need to remove the plant? But happy for any advice #rose #gardening #allotment

@laurenheywood Just a tip: Follow the gardening group and ask those questions there - you'll reach more people. @ gardening@fedigroups.social (without the blank)

@laurenheywood may well be, but I would try a rose fertiliser and see if that bucks it up since it was healthy last year.

@laurenheywood Doesn't look like much to be worried about right now. The rest of the plant looks healthy in the photos. Fresh growth is often red in roses because the green chlorophyll hasn't got going in the new leaves yet. Here's a photo from a rose in my garden that has similar red fresh growth

@laurenheywood I'd say the streaking looks viral and I suspect you should yank it before it is spread by the inevitable leaf hoppers
