UPDATE!! Is there a way to get something similar on Linux? (Ideally KDE Plasma)

    @indigoviolet it isnt the same thing but if you map a key to "compose" then you can get accents with that method. it wont give you a nice on screen menu though :(

    @indigoviolet I want this too, I live in a country with macrons and I can't get them in a way my brain will remember haha :(

    @indigoviolet Plasma just implemented this IIRC. It's just not in stable yet. I think it's in the upcoming 6.7?

    @indigoviolet I think it could be implementable as an ibus IME... not sure because it would go against the key repeat behavior that (IMO, sadly) is baked everywhere in the ecosystem. but hopefully IMEs have a way to inhibit key repeats
