@pixx @csepp Nevertheless, purely relying on more renewables will not reduce emissions fast enough. That is what "current policies" means. And 2.8°C is still catastrophic. See e.g. https://unclimatesummit.org/comparing-climate-impacts-at-1-5c-2c-3c-and-4c/ for the difference between 1.5°C and 3°C.

    @wim_v12e @csepp My point isn't "2.8 is good enough" it's "all the optimistic estimates have been wrong and reality has consistently been better" "current policies will result in XYZ in ten years" and then it happens in four My bet is not "2.8 is fine actually", it's "next year's estimate is going to be revised down a little bit again"
