@cdonat interesting. I've disabled my LinkedIn account a while ago as I was fed up with the BS that people posted there. I was wondering if there would be a way to build a federated alternative that could provide the key functionality without requiring a central authority.

@lenzgr You pretty much described my frustration with - let's not say that name - centralized professional networks. Yet at the moment, when you need a new job, there is no way around. I'd be very interested, which features you're looking forward. I have an idea, what we need, but maybe I'm just missing something obvious.
