@Haste To me, engagement implies that it is bidirectional. After reading Chris Hayes’ book, The Sirens’ Call, perhaps “attention farming” might be appropriate. They want to gain the attention of people, not responses.

@gdinwiddie that’s fair, I guess the term engagement would have been coined by businesses, that would benefit from asserting their metrics are genuine interaction.
