Ok, I mean, sure, the WORST thing is the fascists ripping the last of our freedoms from us, but once that happens, the worst thing about THAT will be hearing people ask, "How did this happen!?" and then having them ignore or debate with us when we tell them the answer... again.

@resl@mas.to there’s an essay I’ve been trying to sell about mobilizing some kind of countervailing tendency among software engineers against “move fast and break things” (move slow and build carefully?) and it would be great to see progressives take that up as a political idea worth supporting

@resl@mas.to I agree with this sentiment 💯. Tech is so much of the infrastructure of modern life. I believe insisting on tech that works in our best interest is necessary - the status quo hasn't caught up with the problems, harms, and subsequent solutions you've identified - Big tech surveillance capitalism enables and entrenches inequality, authoritarianism, and fascism. I'm also baffled that Indivisible, DSA, DIEM, etc. don't see FOSS/fedi is an obviously aligned expression of egalitarian values these orgs embrace in other aspects of culture and our relationships to each other.
