Advice: If you're an Indie, there's NOTHING, except money, IP and resources, AAA has on you. They're not better, more creative, better organized, better aligned just because they're big. I dare say, the opposite is just as likely, because they're big. What you can do: use proper project management. Track time - esp. where it's wasted. Track quality. Track iterations. Automate where it makes an impact. Be data driven, but also speak face to face. Be creative and consider risk/reward.

  • @kwramm Well said. AAA doesn't look at how creative a game is and I would argue a lot of games don't really care about how much they respect the source material. Indie can do this A LOT better than AAA will with some genres and bring back smaller games that AAA won't do because massive open world and action games are critical successes.

  • @kwramm Damn yeah. I don't have personal experience, but this matches 100% what I took from Jason Schreier's "Blood, Sweat, and Pixels". Assuming what he writes is at least half real, I was shocked to see how unorganized big productions often are, how much they lack proper tools (or understanding of tools) and how many problems they face that I would not expect in a big company, even including the aforementioned lack of "clear vision". And thanks for pointing out they're not more creative.
