I need a soundtrack for working on this book. The protagonist in my first novel was basically me, so I used a local jazz group I love. This dude is a developer at a big tech firm with a philosophy degree. He's also +/- 20 years my junior, so I'm at loose ends. Any suggestions for something mellow, instrumental, maybe with a good repetitive bass line...but that won't drive my middle-age Deadhead brain to distraction? #AmWriting #WritersOfMastodon #WritingCommunity #Writing #Music

@jessekelber@writing.exchange I would check out Rival Consoles, personally, maybe Jon Hopkins? For Rival Consoles, start with Persona; Jon Hopkins I'd do Immunity. 36 might also be a good bet -- The Infinity Room is fun. They're all ambient and are what I listened to whilst working on my PhD thesis, so. Might fit! :)

@jessekelber@writing.exchange i would see this person listening to psycore or mathcore, or in quiet days to noise ambient (in which case i dont know what to do with your desire for a bassline).
