Well, let me see.
I could check the battery with, um, "upower" and append that output and a date to a growing file, sleep 60 seconds inside a while loop, then unplug and let the laptop run down..
Or...maybe I could...just ask...
Childbeast: "The battery lasts 2 to 3 hours!"

@murodegrizeco Depending on the age, that's pretty good. I have some older laptops that I have to keep plugged in at all times. I miss easily user replaceable laptop batteries.
