@LJ The tick on the Pacific Coast is called the Wood Tick. Don't sit on wooden outdoor benches that also have ground squirrels and other small wild mammals running all over them all day. People feeding ground squirrels, so there are a ton of them in one area, creates a tick rich environment. Don't sit on the ground or the benches in those areas. If you see squirrels taking 'dust baths'? They have ticks, in places they can't reach, and the dust is intended to clog the tick's breathing holes.
