@shadows @autistics Obligation and sometimes feeling trapped into it, is such a big problem. It's far better to have systems where the concept is "what goes around, comes around." In others words not based on simple one to one exchanges. But on the help you give being returned by others helping you.

@pathfinder What you are talking about (or at least is related to it) is something I call Part-Whole Symbiosis, the idea that when a part of the group/system improves, the whole improves, and vice-versa, in a positive but asynchronous feedback loop. It is quite the opposite of our current dominant paradigm of transactional thinking, as you say. It is beneficial from a system's thinking approach, and is why it is less intuitive for most people. That is why it is covered in detail in the Techne program: https://techne-system.neocities.org/lessons/L3T2-I-PWS I got my first taste of it with interactions with certain friends in my late-teens/early 20s. If we wanted to go out, but one person couldn't afford to do anything, the other person would offer to pay. But there was no record keeping, no favors traded, no debts owed. It worked both ways and we were happy with that. I liked that system, and wondered why the rest of society couldn't be that way. That is why one of my hopes with Techne is to build a community that will serve many purposes, one of which is a sort of asynchronous support network, like mutual aid but a bit more organized. That's further down the line though as there are many practicalities to work out. @shadows @autistics
