Few things go well the first time you try them. It's a part of the iterative learning process: when you don't know what the fuck is going on under the hood you have to investigate. Scratch your head. Be confused. Or you could install an UthernetII in your #AppleII and it works the first time without thinking about it. For once, the latter happened.
