Masto chums. Is there an #online #artist community where my 14 yo can safely share her #art and #writing?

@BoneHouseWasps@beige.party Safe from Google Gemini, or safe from Hermione/Draco Microsoft Paint art?

@BoneHouseWasps@beige.party unfortunately, there’s not the same options for being an artist on the internet as there were 10+ years ago (as a kid or an adult) I grew up with deviantart (which is now a website that scrapes everybody’s uploads automatically for their built in ai tools, among other issues - I don’t recommend it) DA was great at the time. Amino art was good, but is now pretty much dead. But there’s not really any giant community art sites that are built around community anymore, just around financial transactions (kofi, vgen, and so on) I might get eaten alive in the replies for saying this, but one of the best options for what you’re asking as of right now, is bluesky. Bluesky has a much larger artist community on it than masto, and a much nicer one than twitter (as nearly every artist I’ve seen that dislikes bigotry and ai has moved or at the very least duplicated their accounts to bluesky) It also has age restriction stuff that can hide nsfw content and block DMs too. Social media isn’t great as a replacement for dedicated art community sites :floofMug: Other places younger people like to upload art now are instagram or tiktok (I personally won’t touch those with a very long pole) so I feel bsky is a good middle ground for not being awful + having enough artists on it of whatever niche you’re interested in. You could also have a look at Toyhou.se, it’s an art gallery type site where you can also trade characters, with lots of people from different fandoms on it. You need an invite code to make an account, but it’s been like that for so long that it’s pretty easy to get a code (I can get you a code if you are interested in the site)

@BoneHouseWasps@beige.party I don't know if any one federated site, but could check out the Write Freely and Pixel fed sites

@BoneHouseWasps@beige.party Am unaware of any specifically for very young folk. PixelFed is a lot like instagram (but federated and no ads, of course). Maybe @FediTips@social.growyourown.services would know more?
