@rek one funny variant of the Tiffany problem I've encountered a lot is when the formal/upper class way of saying something becomes the standard and the previously informal/lower class way of saying it ends up sounding more traditional, historical and fancy, so a lot of historical fiction characters end up talking in a scandalously informal way for their station. I guess this would be the "thou" problem.
