This was a lot less of a problem in the 2010s, because we had a certain amount of economic leverage. But it's becoming painfully obvious something else is needed now.

just saw someone real fullthroatedly argue on here that programmers still have too much leverage because we are "used in decision-making to undermine other orgs" used by whom used by whom, my friend

@jneen we started studying computer science at university in 2012 and it feels like that was effectively (at, or slightly after) the turning point where "get a job in programming, you'll be set for life" lead to people doing that, and then companies deciding to no longer make that true
