I wish the authorities would make some laws regarding #ebikes, and start enforcing them. An 82 yo veteran waking home from his part-time job at a local school was hit and killed on the sidewalk in our town by a 14 yo, kid who was horsing around on his ebike and lost control of it. His mama's going up on charges for it.
I'm tired of watching these unruly kids flying down the sidewalks at 30 mph without a care in the world.
We need laws! We need enforcement! #Bikes should not be on sidewalks!

@lloydlemons@me.dm CA has laws on it. Some cities choose not to enforce. Mom getting arrested is that happening - possibly for the first time as this is possibly the first fatality _from_ an e-bike in the 10 years they’ve been around. Should we talk about the thousands of cyclists killed annually due to getting hit by cars?

@lloydlemons@me.dm bad news: sounds like the kid was riding a motorcycle, not an e-bike, thus it is already illegal and the problem is enforcement. More laws wouldn’t help given the problem is elsewhere. (E-bikes can’t go over 20mph on throttle so anything that does is definitionally not an e-bike)
