@faduda Banks, in particular, are blocking their apps on unlocked or non-Google-based Android-derived platforms, citing some kind of security-related reasoning. I haven't seen a good explanation as to why this makes sense -- do scammers force their victims to bootloader unlock their phones? How would that work? Why?

@jmason @faduda AIB blocked a Vodafone-branded Android handset I had some years back, as they detected it as being rooted.

@jmason There could be an argument that non-GOOG phones lack their special security sauce, I guess, but if they're not making the argument explicitly, then it's most likely just brand familiarity and magical thinking
