@miss_rodent crows and pigeons are capable of superstitions which means they can actually attach meanings to things they witness
neighbourhood squirrel was able to figure out quickly that the birdfeeder seeds were in reach by hanging upside down from one spot on a branch which shows several things
whales have been blowing specific shapes with bubbles only around humans and have been theorised to be attempting to communicate with us
etc

@TheTenuousOrder Yeah. I spend a lot of time with the local wildlife. The bunnies know if they run to me I will stop cats chasing them. The squirrels teach their children to come ask me for food. I've had crows leave me gifts. It is not hard to figure out how much smarter a lot of non-humans are than they are given credit for, if you actually spend time with them.
