@keenan Awesome! So happy for you both. We moved from near the North of the UK down as South as you can go around 15 years ago now. Not quite the same as moving to a whole other country but I remember thinking hooooly shit this is a lot of planning and stuff we need to do, as well as hand wringing on if we were making the right decisions and how it would work. Now, way down the track it's just a distant memory and I think of this place as home much more than anywhere I've lived before. So glad we took the plunge...because... at some point, that's what makes life fun and interesting isn't it? 😊

BIG THINGS NEW THINGS SCARY THINGS BUT YOU'RE DOING THE THINGS! Amazing. Love how it's coming together. It's gonna keep coming together. Wholeheartedly back you on this right here, every single time: ➡︎ "The best experiences I've had, the most I've grown as a person, have been when I've taken the leap, regardless of how scary it is." One little mantra that continues to serve me well especially in big transitions/new challenges, is this: "I can learn what I need to learn when I need to learn it." You don't have to be prepared, you can't fully be prepared, that's why it's a leap. But you're prepared to learn & adjust with open mind & heart. Great adventures require not only serendipitous aligning of universal magic I don't fully understand (but accept with my whole damn heart, undeservingly, whenever it comes my way) but also a kind of delusional trust in yourself that turns out to be self-fulfilling in an also magical way.

@keenan I’m really excited for you! So many of us live life by staying on the marked metaphorical trail, sticking with the default prescribed choices offered to us, and you’re making the bold and courageous choice to go and chart your own path. And I’m not saying that it’s good or bad to stay on the trail or chart your own, but I think those experiences get to be considerably richer when you take a hop off of the default path.

@keenan@social.lol Congrats! New things ahead. I’ve been in Ireland for ten years and got citizenship here. Lived in Germany and the UK before that. You’re in for an adventure! And it’s great that you have your eyes open to the coming great and also sometimes frustrating things. But above all, enjoy the ride.
