@jrp yes, we have some good rural fiber here too, thanks to a publicly funded national rollout. However, I learned from rural studies colleagues that 'rural' in Ireland is very different from rural spaces in many other countries in northern Europe, because of a few historical events. As an artist, I try to look deeper at that history, and what it affects today in terms of major landworks, electrical infrastructure, and distributed data centres in very remote places.

@Fionnáin Oh, i can imgine those data centers. They seem to look for "unihabited" places all over the planet, just to exploit regional water ressources and pollute the air with gas turbines. Or so. This is not like that where i am visitn gsometimes over here, yet there is a Tesla factory on the outskirts of Berlin, that brought severe troubles to ground water supplies in a much wider region. Historically there was a lack of aristrocacy around Berlin, which mainly results into a local population, who's neither able to fight those international Big Tech players, nor to imagine how this could be different. They are basically unable to defend themselves. It's been a long tradition of farmers and peasants, mainly. It will be interesting to see, what you find there. I sort of guess, that there'd be many similarities eventually. Towners are watched with suspicion, for good reasons I guess - they buy up properties and ignore local circumstances.
