back when most people still actually cared, the Bavarian government mandated primary school children pooltest twice a week: one swab goes in the pool container and a second swab is put in an individual container and labeled with their name. Those swabs got sent to a lab and if the pool was positive then the individual swabs were also PCR-ed. That evening you were emailed the results. Masks were mandatory on testing days but not the day after (if test -ve).

I'd gladly have that back for all school-aged children. Guardians are required to report to the school if children have lice... the school is then required to inform all other parents of that class about there being a case of lice and the parents are then in turn required to confirm that they've checked their kids for lice. I'd like to know whether there are cases of Covid in my kids' classes and be required to confirm that I've at least RAT'ed my kids before sending them back in.

@fritzoids at least on the surface, that testing technique seems to make a lot of sense. We had a basket of RATs in the office that no-one used, and they got cooked in the empty school over summer. 😂
