@janvlug Does the Librem5 work with volte in the USA. I have been using the flx1s as it was the first I could actually use as a phone in the USA.

@janvlug I think we can't have enough blog posts and talks about that, ppl still think it's not possible to use a close to mainline #Linux phone in 2026 although we're doing it for many years now (see also e.g. @devrtz 's talk from 2025 https://www.linuxday.at/5-jahre-meines-lebens-mit-mobile-linux-smartphones (in German)).

@janvlug yes, please write an update! It might be good timing now, people seem to be extra annoyed at google for some recent shenanigans around android. As so often, many are upset but at the same time they do nothing about it because they think there is no alternative.

@janvlug@mastodon.social I've now revived (taking a whole afternoon!) to revive my Librem 5. It is still atrocious. The developers have no respect for the time of their users. Everything is slow even when it does not need to be. A typical example: opening a category in the PureOS store takes 42 seconds! And it takes that long even for empty (and cryptic) categories like 'Codecs' and 'Fonts'. This was the same when I put this device in a drawer. The device is constantly 39°C at an ambient temperature of 18°C.
