What I love about printmaking in the broadest possible sense is how the process produces so many interesting and beautifully tactile artifacts. I think every printmaker probably has a similar feeling of excitement when seeing something in progress or getting to wander through a shop. The arrangements, the smells, the improvised tools carefully at work, the sounds of scraping and wiping or the tack of ink on the brayer, the feel of the felt blankets. And depending on who’s running the shop that day, their music on a boombox somewhere. The work produced at the end has two amazing stories to tell. The image itself and the artist, but then the process and craft.
