@Hyperlynx while I expect it would take some searching to corroborate, I seem to recall one of the benefits claimed for the change to digital broadcast TV was to have multiple soundtracks. I can't say I've ever noticed this showing up as a feature actually being used (in Australia anyway). So perhaps the point is moot, but if they were actually using that, then a mixer feature wouldn't seem hard to add.

    @geraldew some big popular thing needs to do it, once, for everyone to see what a fantastic idea it is. Like, even a "open this other link in another browser tab to play the other audio feed".

    @Hyperlynx But this also touches on an existing very anti-information culture of broadcast television. For example, it is so rare for TV stations to openly declare which episode of which season of a programme they are broadcasting. Quite why this is so pervasive, I've never been able to figure out. In Australia, the ABC is as bad about this as the commercial channels, so it is clearly not just about "business" concerns. (But also: "don't get me started on theatre/opera ticket prices")
