I've already moved my issue tracking off GitHub (only keeping issues there open because it's the easiest place for people to report problems), because the overall GitHub UI has been in steady decline for the past five years or more. I don't mind the Dependabot ecosystem (but I can write update checks of my own). The other big part of GitHub that is hard to leave behind is the Security Advisory process (getting a CVE is just so much easier there), but that's fine.

Chuck Tingle could write a great book about ̶m̶e̶ an anonymous software developer and his adventures with GitHub.

@rixx Codeberg does seem to support actions although I believe you have to opt in from what I understand it works pretty okay; probably no worse than GitHub, at least

  • @rixx have you had a look at Woodpecker CI? I am thinking about leaving the whole GitHub Actions ecosystem including clones and switching to something more "friendly".

@rixx I'm curious (and would like some less GitHub dependence in the long run, as well): Where did you move your issue tracking to? Do you find it works well?
