@ravenbait @clickhere @dec23k @Rubelicious @baoigheallain The rarity is irrelevant, you clearly are treating it without the due concern that you're required to under the rules of the road in exactly the same "might is right" manner that car drivers do. If anyone is giving cyclists a bad reputation here it's you. The sensible thing would be to take the concerns of pedestrians seriously, if you're not willing to do that then you deserve a poor reputation.

@piraat If we're throwing baseless accusations around, you're acting like one of those cyclist-haters who would ban them from public spaces because old ladies drop dead at the sight of them, and who thinks it's your right to just step out in front of traffic without even looking. Causing a fright is not ok. Physical harm is rare. 39 people have already been killed on the roads in Ireland this year alone. I doubt any were killed by a cyclist. @clickhere @dec23k @Rubelicious @baoigheallain

@piraat And the rarity absolutely *is* relevant. There is so much focus on cyclists and how "irresponsible" or "smug" they are in the press. It is still socially acceptable to express hate and violence towards cyclists. It's so socially acceptable, people attack cyclists. I've been driven at, hit with a car, spat at, had objects thrown at me, been assaulted, been squeezed against parked cars. @clickhere @dec23k @Rubelicious @baoigheallain
