@britter @sparrowsion @GrapheneOS Why can't alternative OSes simulate a Google environment better so apps can't detect the difference (as easily)? Especially thinking Graphene which has a specific container for Google stuff IIRC (if one opts to have that stuff on the device at all)? Asking bc I'm considering an alternative OS, but unfortunately I need some of those apps...

  • @project1enigma @britter @sparrowsion GrapheneOS already provides nearly perfect compatibility with apps depending on Google Mobile Services. It also already makes changes to work around apps banning using an alternate OS. It's not practical to work around the Play Integrity API because it has hardware-based verification via hardware attestation. The strong integrity level requires hardware attestation and the device integrity level is phasing it in. That's not possible to simply spoof.
