@sparrowsion also if you're running an alternative ROM, some banking apps refuse to run, because they expect Play integrity checks to pass, that OSes like @GrapheneOS don't pass. So you might end up with a bank that support tap to pay via their app, but that app only runs on stock android. Honest opinion: mobile computing is a pretty big mess when it comes to privacy and freedom of choise.

@sparrowsion I'm running Graphene myself and that team is doing an amazing job stripping out all the crap from android and providing lots of privacy features in addition. But at the end of the day even Graphene exists at the mercy of Google... Hence I'm now looking at full FOSS solution. I ordered the new @jolla phone. But I expect app compatibility to be nowhere near Graphene.

@britter @sparrowsion @GrapheneOS Why can't alternative OSes simulate a Google environment better so apps can't detect the difference (as easily)? Especially thinking Graphene which has a specific container for Google stuff IIRC (if one opts to have that stuff on the device at all)? Asking bc I'm considering an alternative OS, but unfortunately I need some of those apps...
