I still wonder why they need a phone number. At worst I could use a burner? What is so specific about phone numbers that you can't achieve with (disposable) email accounts?
Original: would that mean that I can "drop" my phone number based account and create an "anonymous" (email based?) one?

@mdione @knoppix95 @signalapp Here in germany you have to link your ID with the phonenumber or rather sim-card you buy - so theoretically you won't be able to use signal in anonymity.

@mdione @knoppix95 @signalapp Because Signal is under control by government too. There is nothing much left in truly anonymous messengers. They can spy on users using Signal too. 100% confirmed.
