The absurdity of billionaires explained in a brillant post by @preya https://mastodon.social/@preya/114768878020251805
"Jeff Bezos is supposed to be worth $237 billion. His wedding cost 50 million dollars. Applying this to someone with an average net worth of $200,000, their wedding would have cost $42. Well, the man didn't actually want to hit the shit out of the place, he was celebrating a small, humble wedding." (freely translated from German)

@bastianallgeier@mastodon.social Also, all the 10-minute private jet plane rides, each emitting about as as much carbon dioxide as the average (Western) household in an entire year. @preya@mastodon.social

@bastianallgeier@mastodon.social @preya@mastodon.social I can't get around to perceive spending 50m dollars as "small and humble" For me the absurdity lies in the fact, that the rich can "hit the shit out of the place" multiple times a day and still can't spend all of their money during their life span.
