@AmyZenunim I'll agree with the others who have pointed out that it's not even a good analogy. The thing about cake is that you can get an entirely acceptable result following the instructions on the back of a box. You can even buy one at the grocery store; it will be fine because it is cake. And if what you want to do is decorate a cake, do the "acquire cake" step in the easiest fashion possible and then have fun decorating a cake. You might even have a friend who likes baking but never learned decorating (hi it's me), in which case, you have a fun group project!
