That attack in Golders Green was by a mentally disturbed man who that same day attacked a non Jewish man. But it is being used as evidence of a wave of attacks on the Jewish community. While the Israeli State's genocide is leading some to turn, without justification, on unconnected Jewish people, it is essential that clarity of evidence is prioritised. Otherwise politicians will do the usual knee jerk of hurried decisions such as bans on legitimate solidarity actions.

@markhburton@mstdn.social uk radio this morning is all this. No context given but banning peaceful protests is somehow the answer even though the evidence for how that will help is not presented. We’re all supposed to just swallow it.

@markhburton@mstdn.social The failure to genuinely tackle racism, including antisemitism, in the UK is allowing facism to take a stronger grip. Starmer is enabling and encouraging violence by the othering and attacks of communities, such as refugees, foreign students, and trans people. Banning anti- genocide protests won't help anyone. We know that only an intersectional approach will help our Jewish friends, not further withdrawal of our human rights. When we all stand together we will defeat hate.
