#FediCoven Our 12yo gd had surgery yesterday to remove her internally fitted chemo line. It seemed to go well. She's home now, to recover gently and start putting a bit of weight back on. She's exhausted, almost transparent with big dark panda eyes. A 3-year weekly treatment plan is ahead, but hopefully the worst is behind her. Thanks to the Mórrígan, who promised me she would bring our girl through this. And thanks to you, my friends here who have held our girl in prayer. Thank you. x...

#commonwealthgames We don't have a TNT Sports subscription so will only see the highlights programme on C5 each evening, which is a shame because we love these games. And I don't do instagram or facebook so won't see all the updates British Gymnastics are promising to post there. I'll just be here, watching this hashtag.

#3GoodThings #ThreeGoodThings 1. My 12yo granddaughter is home safely after her surgery. 2. Made a new friend. 3. Didn't get attacked for voicing my opinion. Yet. If the attack comes, I'm ready for it.

#ScribesAndMakers #WritingCommunity 29th Jun 2026. Share the last line of dialogue you wrote. Aisling: “I’m nervous around Charlie. He’s dark and brooding, angrily suspicious of anything that might be like old human ownership of nature. Pa calls him a firecracker. But then he's friends with the mother whale, and they're so tender together. He makes my tummy flip.”

#Fedihelp Is anyone here in contact with #LadyGaga? My 14yo grandson who I love dearly is lying in hospital on life support. His mum, my daughter, is reading aloud for him the David Attenborough book he was planning to get. His favourite artist is Lady Gaga and my daughter is trying to contact her, to ask if she might send our boy a message to be read to him. It would mean a lot. I know this is a long shot, but can anyone put me in touch?

#WordWeavers #WritingCommunity 1st June 2026. Let your MC introduce themself. I am Medb, pronounced May-v. I am like generations of my family before me the steward of this forest on the west coast of Ireland, and in my yard on the beach I continue my family trade of building wooden boats. I am a wife, twice over and twice widowed, mother to a fine woman, grandmother to two, and soon to be a great-grandmother. My way of life I inherit from my family, including my dedication to the Mórrígan.

Earth below sky, strength in each one, a cup overfull, filled with honey, sufficiency of renown." Opening lines of the Mórrígan's rosc that became known as the Peace Prophecy in the Cath Maige Tuired (the Second Battle of Moytirra), full English translation by Morgan Daimler, 2020.

#ScribesAndMakers #WritingCommunity 3rd June 2026. In a minute or less using your media of choice (including words) make a sketch of something representative of you as a creative person. Late evening, old man sitting at his desk in a glow-globe of candlelight, staring into depths, occasionally testing a phrase for its shape, typing hard in sustained bursts.

#ScribesAndMakers #WritingCommunity 7th May 2026. When did you think of the idea for your current project? Do you remember how it came about? Two months ago, on 1st March. It bloomed in my resting mind like a flower, the initial picture of it entire. Even its structure was there, along with the nature of its narrator, and its ambition excited me. Considering I officially retired from writing in December and didn't write a word through midwinter, I'm coming at this fresh and e...

#ScribesAndMakers #WritingCommunity⁩ 14th Apr 2026. What's something that's going well with your creativity this month? I'm six weeks into gathering and listing links for research in my WIP, a task that never ceases but the bulk of my pre-planning work is done. Next will be the skeleton plan, one sentence per probable chapter, and then I'll start writing.

#WordWeavers #WritingCommunity 14th Apr 2026. Do your MCs tend to run more optimistic or pessimistic about life? Why? I've written a lot of characters during my 30 years in the game, so there's a wide mix of temperaments and worldviews among them. I'm a cautious optimist, so perhaps characters with that tendency are easier for me to write, but I can't say I've noticed any difference in that way.

#WritersCoffeeClub #WritingCommunity 14th Apr 2026. Do you consciously work with syllabic stress to create rhythm? Not so that the narrative will be monotonously regular, but I do work to create an elegant style and rhythm is in the mix.

#PennedPossibilities 985 #WritingCommunity How long have you been writing or when did you start? In 1985, out at sea, I wrote my first short story. It was okay. When my seagoing career ended in 1994, I started learning how to write novels. It was a long apprenticeship and I worked hard at it, until my first novel was accepted for publication in 2010. More books (20?) written and published since, 12 available right now from my publisher, with 2 more in the editing queue and a WIP underway.
