If you haven't heard about the Firefox debacle, there are two main stories going on right now: The TOS prohibits accessing adult content through their browserThey updated their TOS and Privacy Policy to give themselves permission to sell your browsing data. They say that's not what they meant, etc. etc. but it's shady. This isn't an advice post. I have 13 browsers across three OSes (not counting mobile OSes). If you're not on Linux, Waterfox is a drop-in replacement for Firefox. If you are on Linux, it's a little harder to install Waterfox than, say, Firefox in my opinion.

@EveHasWords@toot.cat looking at Ladybird specifically, in their CONTRIBUTING.md file, they do mention using they/them https://github.com/LadybirdBrowser/ladybird/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#issue-policy Use gender-neutral pronouns, except when referring to a specific person. which seems like a step in the right direction?

@EveHasWords@toot.cat oof that's unfortunate. what does it take to have a browser that isn't trying to make money off of me or made by people who hate me :neofox_angry:

@EveHasWords@toot.cat RE: https://github.com/SerenityOS/serenity/pull/24647#issuecomment-2203925118 "We have had the long-standing rule in our project that we do not concern ourselves with controversial topics as to not alienate anyone who'd like to join in the project." Weird to think how language that explicitly *includes* non-male subjects could be construed as "alienating" to anyone, except perhaps people who feel threatened by the idea of non-male people using the project..?

@EveHasWords@toot.cat I was really excited about an independent browser engine rather than just a Chrome or Firefox fork and it was really disheartening to find out what kind of people were running it.
