Those are essentially options for what's registered for you and written in your birth certificate.
Since 1994, you have the option of _not_ having a gender marker in your documents, here represented by x. However, that option was commonly ignored, "x" in job descriptions is a new thing.
The constitutional court later argued that inter* people don't have a marker to express themselves, so since 2019, inter* people may choose "divers" as an option.

@ShadowJonathan @ClipHead @bleeptrack "Divers" means "miscellaneous" and is explicitly _not_ a gender, but just a marker in your document because Germans are obsessed with sex. "d" was introduced in job descriptions at the same time, while still ignoring people without a gender marker in their papers. Since 2023, you can change your gender markers somewhat freely to one of these options.
