When the first option for a city event is “here are extensive details about how to drive and park at our location” and the public transport is barely an afterthought below that - it’s more telling than many orgs realise. Says me, reading 31 lines on a mobile phone screen about how to park when attending the Victorian Government Budget Lockup, followed by a combined 5 lines of info for public transport, taxi, and (also car) drop-offs.

@jeremyburge@mastodon.world I had this happen for a hospital appointment recently. My first thought was to check, “wait, this IS an inner city location, I thought? No I did pick the right address, phew.” Their guidance has been negligently left in the 1960s: - assumes wife is coming to pick you up - but also wife isn’t working and can be somewhere nearby after dropping you off - but also wife isn’t entitled (or interested) to receive updates on progress, but instead must be available on a 15-minute notification - the husband must be driven home for some reason: the nearby metro must be avoided, or “you wouldn’t want that”, I mean, why do you want to travel that fast? - and no, “there is no space” for ride sharing pickups - but we have a huge carpark ready for you, you’re welcome, yes we are generous, um oops it now costs us money though so please pay Screw that, I still have working feet — yep, not amputated yet. It was lovely outside. I’d go for an outdoor wheelchair if I had to. Just spend a week in Amsterdam, take the orange pill 💊
