@jeremyburge the China cities seem a little inaccurate, considering you need a Chinese bank card to be able to top up the subway transit card in the Wallet app. The only way you get contactless is if you sign up for an Alipay account. Yes, downloading a whole app just to use the transit system. Then even with that app, it is not tap, it is you having to open up the app, then navigating to show the QR code, and then having the door scan your phone screen. Ridiculously cumbersome

    @richaesthetic Totally agree. I'm attempting to only count “contactless" as being bare-minimum Visa or Mastercard tap to ride, and not limited to local cards. So the ones on the site there should be the cities that allow that. Eg Shanghai supports this as of mid-2025 so gets a YES vs Shenzhen which has Apple Wallet (local card only) so gets a NO (do let me know if you spot any errors with cities classified the wrong way)
