The first year here was a real slog. @ana was destroyed by basically having to do a move without movers by herself with the assistance of some amazing friends, and my MECFS had another massive flare when we did.
But, we've been slowly building our garden over the last two years and this spring when I go outside what was once a gravel parking lot is buzzing with bees, hummingbirds and predatory helpers.
We are both slowly recovering and the work we need to do outside is slowing down. At first it felt silly to jump right into gardening when there are loads of other things inside that could do with some focus, but the garden just keeps on giving and ticking forward once it's built.
I think that's why I love designing gardens so much. You are sculpting something that is intended to shift and change with time and breathe with the world. On top of that you are hopefully building a healing habitat for all the small creatures we forget when we are facing the grind every moment of the day.
