@xenophora you mean for you it's like an ethical decision of stoping art as a career all together or staying on toxic platform, and if it is then you'd just stop art as a career? that's an answer i guess, although i do think there are third or fourth options hihi like i don't think it is impossible to escape!
I guess there is a difference between a dependency that can trigger material insecurity, and an obligation. I think in that case being on instagram to make it as an artist isn't an obligation, but for some they used it and build on it which now became a material dependency.

@doriane It’s not just about ethics. Nobody can choose the 100% ethical method all the time. ipernity, one place with my images, still uses Amazon for some admin. stuff, for instance. But if I were putting pictures out there in the “Big City” (IG) to try and make a living, I’d have to acknowledge that with greater visibility also comes greater competition and shorter attention spans from viewers. No matter what I did, there would always be a buyer’s market and I could STILL end up w/o success.
