@detours_anachroniques@piaille.fr @oblomov@sociale.network @NIGHTEN@hi.nighten.fr @doriane@post.lurk.org the thing that always really bothered me in the past 20 or so years of the internet is that a lot of these social networks should have been browser extensions, rather then massive multinational data black holes.

@bovaz @doriane @NIGHTEN @detours_anachroniques That's what Opera Unite tried to achieve, basically a small web server built into the browser, and extensions to interface with a number of services that could be hosted this way. A marvel of the small web / indie web. And we all know how it went for them. (And of course, browser extensions don't pay for the bling bling you can do corralling users in silos.)
