Last week we sank a steel pole into a friend's garden to help him with getting his antenna in a more suitable place. Dug a metre down and set if in concrete. Told him go leave it alone while it set. Also dug a trench and cemented a horizontal bar in the lawn, running guy wire under it. Covered it back over with the turf to act as a ground anchor. Used two walls and the house to sink anchor bolts into for the other guy lines. This week, we helped him drop it from it's terrible location that got him complaints, unsurprisingly. It was clamped to the handrail of his neighbours front path. ​:blob_grimace:​ Then put it up in the right spot. He was worried about it spinning, so we went and bought M10 bar and nuts. Put one bar through the vertical poles and the one on the ground down low, and another up high. Then added his u clamps. This means if the lower bolt is left in it is a pivot for raising and lowering it. Later he will add a winch. He is slight (41kg), we just walked it up and down for testing as we are double his weight and stronger 🤷‍♀️ It is now guyed in a cross shape and we straightened the radiator of the 827 and most of the radials where he had dropped it and bent them. Coax under the lawn and running up through the loft and down into his shack. Guy is a monotropic chaos monkey with a radio special interest, and will likely have taken it down for some reason to tinker and broken something in a couple of weeks, so bet we will be back to fix stuff soon. He is on strict orders to buy parts. Especially the stuff we gave him 7 days to sort ready for today, and didn't. Don't mind a bit of improvisation, heck hacker ethos, but he had the time and money ​:blobcatgoogly:​
