@Antigrav you mean utes with a boot? Surely they are already in that category? Actually, the trouble is that there isn't a separate category for utes in the law. Its all 'Class 1' vehicles with a maximum GVM of 3500kg. If they made a couple of smaller categories with lower rego that could help a lot. One like the Japanese kei cars and one for cars say 1500kg max. Both with max sizes and with all the euro bonnet height, angle etc. rules to make pedestrian collisions less horrible and cyclists less invisible. Then the 3500kg class would suddenly be less popular.

    @Antigrav a guerilla persuasion campaign world be to put big stickers on parked utes and small cars (especially Prius) displaying the $ per 100km to use. Prius are about $15 utes $30.

  • 1,500 is a nice round number but it cuts out a lot of EVs. I’d go for 1,800 if you want to cut out the diesel and diesel hybrids. https://sdc.org.nz/notes/heavy-ev @Niall @Antigrav
