One of the things I find no use for anymore is the 3 tier SV model for developing enterprise services. You really only need this if you are scaling to aggregative hosting and control of other people's data or your iin the fortune 50 list, but SV does want to host and control their data, too. I believe data and compute autonomy is so essential to business and personal integrity and dignity, which is why I was so hated in SV. I also prefer practices optimized around performance, deterministic behavior, and simplicity. Simplicity even more so blind. SV has opposite and perverse incentives.
