@helenclayton yep! Although theoretically they also stay here and nest. We just stop seeing them at the feeders about this time. Most of our year round birds numbers at feeders drop a lot as other food becomes available and as they need to set up and defend territories. This is the latest I’ve ever had feeders out-many take them down when bear hibernation ends! But it’s an experiment on my part and I’m still seeing new birds arriving coming to feed that I’ve not seen before!

@IcooIey the RSPB has issued new advice here which is that people should take down seed and nut feeders May-October to try and prevent the spread of disease and when natural food sources more plentiful (though ok to put out some fat balls). I have bought a selection of seeds to grow into plant feeders! I started preparing the soil yesterday so hope to get them in soon. Plants that attract insects are also good for birds that eat the insects! I may have an abundance of cosmos plants!
