@oggydyer what grabbed you about DCC? It has a lot going on. It's just got that element of mean-funny that works really well on me, which isn't the nicest thing to like but here I am...

@alexhaist The first book specifically was exactly what it needed to be to pull me in... the isekai-adjacent, but also H2G2-borrowing plot with a cat who casually mentions all the babies in the room after the fact. I like the sprawling universe that's unveiled gradually, I like that the systems mostly make sense, and I like that things don't just magically work out all the time for the protags... that's probably my biggest beef with isekais – in the big ones like Shield Hero and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, any time there's an issue, the protag is immediately like "oh no, there are bees now! good thing I have bee shield slime power!" Also rallying against authoritarian dipshits. That helps a lot.
