Being smart or dumb is largely a choice. Sure, not everyone has the same innate aptitude in all aspects of reasoning. But the main key to making the right decisions is navigating around cognitive pitfalls. Stuff like confirmation bias, sophistry, etc. All this knowledge is freely and publicly available. I've known mentally challenged people who were smart, and "high potential" people who were letting their gifts amount to nothing. My point here is if you think you're dumb, you're not.
