@RoastbeefHashTag my poll right now is at 32 votes with not a single person admitting to always using reply-all; even accounting for the likely bias of polling fedi, that feels like a strong signal. And I don't think people are lying on their poll responses. But there's gotta be an explanation of why people answer that they understand this, then turn around and reply-all gratuitously in practice.

@RoastbeefHashTag not that I'm implying anybody who's answered this poll is emailing me or is necessarily part of the problem. But if I polled the people who are reply-all'ing me, I am imagining I would get similar results, and I'm trying to imagine why that might be.

@ryanprior perhaps it's more a misjudgment that questions about the original email are of value to everyone? Then the discussion would be much better off in a different form than email. No business I know uses it, but Lemmy works for me.
